It's Your Time to Shine!

A wonderful opportunity to perform songs, choreography and scenes from many different Broadway shows!

This summer, The Actors Camp musical theater instructors will tailor a special online video program for each camper. Our talented staff will handpick songs and scenes that will suit each camper's strengths and interests.  Each camper will be taught music and choreography for one or two songs from some of the most popular musicals on Broadway and two full group numbers in which they will get to sing, dance, and act. We will help campers film their assigned music and scenes, and our editors will piece it together into an amazing talent showcase in which everyone gets to shine!

We know that some campers love just being a part of the group, and may not want to sing or have lines by themselves. That’s no problem! If they choose not to sing alone, they can sing in groups of two or three, or only in the full cast numbers.

At the end of the two weeks, we will start the editing process, and when completed all campers will receive a link to the final product to share with your family and friends and to keep as a memory of this special summer that we will get to spend together virtually.

Here is what the day will look like...

9:00-9:45 am - Full Group Rehearsal or Master Class

9:45-10:00am - Break

10:00-11:30am - Campers will break up into small groups with our instructors to work on their songs and scenes, those who are not working with the instructors will work using the pre-recorded virtual rehearsal videos!

11:30am-12:00pm - Lunch

12:00-1:00pm - Full Group Rehearsal or Master Class (The full group rehearsals will be to learn the choreography for the full cast numbers. In addition, we will have industry professional special guests talk to the campers via zoom about their experiences and expertise.)

Entering Grades 6-12

Two daily sessions

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

FROM BEGINNER TO ADVANCED.  WE GOT YOUR BACK!!

For months now, this summer’s Sketch & Improv Comedy Camp instructors have been online  “Zoom teaching” such courses as on-camera acting, character development and improv comedy.  So they know firsthand that there’s much room to connect and play.

Keeping the successful, popular, and well-established format intact:  comedy campers will spend the first week concentrating on improvisation, and the second week they’ll create sketches.  Complete with that same, sensational, end of session, show!,... only this time Uncle Leo in Florida and Aunt Lenore in Arizona will be able to see! For that matter, nothing is stopping their cousins in London, their pen pal in Nova Scotia, or that best friend who recently moved to Bergen County from taking the class and being in the show with them!

We know that camp would not be the same without our fearless and funny counselors.  They’ll be there! - The only difference is you won’t have to smell them.   Same format, same fun, same overall fabulousness.

The differences include fewer students, shorter sessions, and  ….wait for it…...campers can get twice as much humor in one day!  That’s right,  we’re offering two Zoom sessions a day! Subject to enrollment, campers will have the opportunity to get a double dose of comedy each day.  We promise that no game taught in the morning session will be repeated in the afternoon, leaving students with twice the experience and two times the laughter.

In addition, we will have various industry professional special guests talk to the campers via zoom about their experiences and expertise.

CREATE YOU OWN PLAY SERIES

SCOTT TYLER

This July, our young Playmakers will be taking their talents into cyberspace and as usual, Fun will be the name of the game.  We’re gearing up for another successful summer at The Actor’s Camp, but this time Playmakers is all about the camera and will be “ZOOMING” forward with imaginations and creativity to develop their very own play!

Through various games and exercises that bring out the fun of using the camera in their computer screen, our Playmakers will learn about the foundations of bringing a play to life and how to take their storytelling abilities to new heights.

Following our long-standing and very successful formula, our goal as we embark on this two-week journey will be to create an original script using dialogue, a storyline, and characters all chosen and crafted by the Playmaker class.  Be sure to check your email and read over your part.  Script pages will be emailed to each class member piece by piece until we’ve finally assembled our masterpiece.  The last Zoom session will feature the culmination of our work: an “acted out” staged reading of the final script.

Have any young family members or friends that like to create stories, live in another part of NJ, and can make the 10:30am -11:30 am class?  Now they can join and participate too!  Do they live out of state?  The Zoom Playmaker windows are open to us all!

Just like our Playmakers group, our youngest actors will use role-playing and creative drama exercises to bring scenes from stories to life.

We will introduce props and costumes you may have around the house as a way to further express characters and advance plot. This will be interspersed with various theater games

The last day will be an "Zoom open " class for the family to sit in and observe some of what the campers will have experienced over their two weeks with us
